Defenders of the Family

All pagan religions begin with the teaching of adults, but Christianity begins with the birth of a child. From that day to this, Christians have ever been the defenders of the family and the love of generation.

NOW president speaks about Tebow commerical

Really?  Really???!!

In regard to the recent Tebow ad from Focus on the Family:

That was too much for NOW president Terry O'Neill, who told the Los Angeles Times the ad glorified violence against women: "I am blown away at the celebration of the violence against women in it. That's what comes across to me even more strongly than the anti-abortion message. I myself am a survivor of domestic violence, and I don't find it charming. I think CBS should be ashamed of itself." (my emphasis added in bold)

I am in absolute shock that the President of the NOW, the National Organization Against Women, has issued a statement exclaiming that the Tebow ad promotes domestic violence.

The commercial is awesome.  It is not in your face pro-life... it is a true celebration of life.  It is a beautiful example of trusting in the Lord and letting God do His work.  And the result?  Tim Tebow, Heisman Trophy Winner.

NOW states that they promote equality for women.  If you know me, you know that I LOVE women's rights.  I love equality and a basic understanding that all men and women are created equal.  O'Neill, you have just made a statement that actually challenges the credibility of your organziation.  To make such an off the wall statement about this commerical is like reaching for straws.  That is the only thing you  can think to ctiticize?  Because we know it's not the message of the actual commerical that could be argued against.  Because the commerical is thoughtfully crafted so to speak to all people whether prolife or proabortion about the beauty of life.  It definitely isn't to criticize Focus on the Family for being overly critical of proabortionist because that message does not exist.

No, the only thing that could be criticized is the non-existent domestic violence message.  Yep, I am sure that's what Focus on the Family overlooked when they created a commerical to support life.  Please.

I have to remember to pray for Ms. O'Neill and the entire NOW organization.  And I also need to pray in thanksgiving that such an amazing message was able to reach so many viewers during the Superbowl.  How amazing that a man (Tebow) in such a high position is able to use that 'power' to glorify God.  Amen!

And for your viewing pleasure I have also included a picture of Tim Tebow and his beautiful mother.

If you haven't see the Tebow commerical yet check it out here.

Life News writes about the commerical here.

Tebow Part II

Found this article on Tim Tebow and wanted to share it with you all. This article is AMAZING! Take a minute to read Sally Jenkin's thought as she writes for the Washington Post. The irony of this article is that the writer is actually pro-abortion ( or choice as she puts it). But her response to Tebow's commercial celebrating FAMILY is beautifully written. Did you know that in the actual ad 'abortion' is never even mentioned? NOW, the National Organization of Women has made many a statement about the inappropriateness of this message. What message? That family should be celebrated? NOW should really stop and look at what they are fighting against. If there is one thing we should all agree on, it's that the family unit is the basis of our society. And it should DEFINITELY be celebrated.

As Jenkins comments, Tebow has every bit of a right to share his point of view. And in a day and age when most celebrities are living lives filled with moral atrocities it is quite refreshing to hear a celebrity speak out positively about something moral. I am so proud that there is an individual out there who is in a position of such power and has chosen to use that power to bring more people to Christ. THAT is what it is all about. I will definitely be praying for Tebow and for the positive effect his commercial may have on our fallen society.

The first time I received the Eucharist

"The first time I received the Eucharist I was in my mother's womb".

How beautiful to know that as an unborn child we are receiving our Lord, Jesus Christ. The very thought that God created us so that our babies in utero would have the privilege to receive Holy Communion is truly a testament to the beauty of the unborn child. We continue to pray for all unborn children and the end to abortion.

Great Pro-Life Victory

Here is the letter I received from the Susan B Anthony organization. THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!!

Dear Tara,

All of your letters and calls paid off!

Tonight the U.S. House of Representatives approved the Stupak-Pitts Amendment to H.R. 3962, by a vote of 240 to 194, with 64 Democratic members voting in favor of the amendment to ban federal funding of abortion in the health care bill.

This is a great victory for the pro-life movement and for all SBA List members who so diligently contacted their Representatives leading up to the vote.
With the adoption of the Stupak-Pitts Amendment, the House of Representatives made a principled and sound decision to continue our nation’s longstanding policy of protecting taxpayers’ conscience in the area of abortion funding.
In the coming weeks, we will remain vigilant and shift our efforts to the Senate to ensure that these same pro-life protections are included in the Senate bill. We fully expect that pro-abortion leaders will still try to find ways to sneak abortion funding into health care.

For now though, let's celebrate this great victory for unborn children and women. Thank you for all of your efforts in defense of Life. Together we can save countless unborn lives.

God bless,

Marjorie Dannenfelser

Pro-life Billboards wanting to go up for Ohio-Illinois game

Hi MCM readers,

I received this email from our local pregnancy center and thought maybe I would forward it to you and see if you might post it on your blogs. Interesting concept..... If you are able to donate, great! If you are able to pass on the message, thank you! Thanks for reading!

In April, PDHC started a public awareness campaign that included the use of bumper stickers, business cards, fliers, and billboards. The results have been incredible. Calls to the hotline have increase significantly every month and continue to increase. A picture of one of the billboards is here on the left. These have saved many lives and we intend to continue to post these messages all over Columbus, thanks to the generosity of our supporters and the imagination of some dedicated volunteers.

This morning, we have been given an opportunity to increase the awareness of PDHC dramatically during the Ohio State football season by advertising right in the heart of the pre- and post-game activities. The photo and map to the right shows the location and impact of a proposed billboard placement for the "pink signs" that have been so successful in bringing women to our hotline and our centers. The location is right on Olentangy River Road and is the most visible presence that we have had thus far. This billboard, since it is in such a high traffic area and a prime location, is more expensive than the others that we have been placing.

The cost to display this life-saving message through the OSU football season will be
$2,400.Believe me. If I didn't think that this would save lives, I wouldn't have bothered to write today. If you can help fund this board, please click here.

It would be best if we could get it up for the Illinois game this weekend, so I'll need to know right away if you can help. If we don't see the support for this billboard, we will simply not do it. If you have any questions or if you would prefer to talk to me about your support of this opportunity, please click here to e-mail me, or you can just call me at 614.888.8774, extension 6116.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Thank you. God bless you. I hope to hear from you.

40 Days for Life

It's that time of year again. 40 Days for Life will begin this week.

Wednesday, September 23, the largest 40 Days for Life campaign in history launches in 212 cities across 45 American states, 5 Canadian provinces, and Denmark. For 40 intense days, tens of thousands of faithful volunteers will be praying, fasting, holding peaceful vigils outside abortion facilities, and spreading the pro-life message through community outreach. Participation in 40 Days for Life is not always easy and can involve sacrifice. So why are you and I about to do this?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so take a moment -- right now -- to look at the picture at:http://40daysforlife.com/blog/?p=253

That's Baby David (don't you love his name? :-)Last fall, on the third day of the 40 Days for Life prayer vigil in Sarasota, Florida, a nervous Hispanic woman went to the local Planned Parenthood abortion center with her mother and brother. The 40 Days for Life prayer volunteers offered her literature, but she didn't understand their English. When a bilingual counselor arrived, she learned that the woman was in her 14th week of pregnancy and she was seeking a second-trimester abortion. The counselor instead offered real help to get her to one of the local pregnancy resource centers. As a result, she chose life for her baby. When asked why she changed her mind and decided not to abort, the woman's answer was, "Because you were here. I was looking for a sign from God."

'Throughout the remainder of her pregnancy, many volunteers helped her and her family with various needs, including spiritual and financial support. Then, on March 25 of this year, 6-pound, 6-ounce baby David made his entrance into the world -- where he was greeted by many of the dedicated volunteers and new found friends who have continued their faith journey with his mother and family.A baby saved from abortion. A mother spared from a life of regrets. That is why we do what we do.This story represents just one of the 1,561 lives that have been spared from abortion due to 40 Days for Life campaigns over the last two years. As you pray, fast, stand vigil, and conduct outreach during 40 Days for Life from September 23 through November 1, know that YOUR efforts could help to save the life of a child -- like David -- and could protect a mother from making a tragic abortion decision. If you haven't already, find the 40 Days for Life location nearest to you by visiting: http://www.40daysforlife.com/location.cfm

Click on the link of the closest site, be sure to signup for updates, and get involved.Your humble, simple participation in 40 Days for Lifecan make a profound difference. YOU can help to change the world, one life at a time.

Prayer Request

Hello MCM readers,

I have come to ask for some prayers.

A good friend of mine just had a stroke at age 32. He is the husband to a wonderful woman and father to five amazing children. The family has devoted themselves to mission work by witnessing about Christ to inner-city kids. They started a non for profit called 'Vagabond Ministries' and Bob also raps for Christ. (He is also known as Righteous B)

You can read more about the current situation here:

www.prayfortheb.com

****************************************************************

Another prayer request is for a good friend who just lost her 3 1/2 month old daughter, Eva. Eva was diagnosed with a chromosonal imbalance and heart failure early in the pregnancy. She was advised to abort and chose to honor life instead. This woman chose to have her little girl knowing that the child's diagnosis was poor. She stood up for life and showed all of us that life is truly precious. She adored her time with her little one and now needs prayers. You can read about her story here:

Stop the Abortion Mandate

(This was sent to me by a friend)

Last night, President Obama addressed a joint session of Congress -- and the nation -- about his plan for a national, government-run health care system, stating:

"One more misunderstanding I want to clear up -- underour plan, no federal dollars will be used to fundabortions."

This simply IS NOT TRUE! Even the mainstream media and respected fact-checking organizations are calling out the President on this misinformation. Make no mistake about it:

Abortion WILL be funded by the government through the proposed health care plan. For years, Planned Parenthood and the abortion lobby have been working towards the day when abortion would be included in comprehensive health care reform -- the day when abortion coverage would become mandatory and paid for with your tax dollars.

Unless we act NOW, that day is here! If President Obama's proposed health care legislation passes, abortion providers will get their wish -- a multi-billion-dollar bailout, funded by the federal government through your tax dollars. Even as national polls reveal growing opposition to the abortion-laden health care reform proposals, new polling results released today show that the majorityof Americans think it is WRONG for the government to pay for abortions and DO NOT want the government to fund health plans that fund abortions. We must redouble our efforts to stop the abortion mandate in proposed health care reform legislation.

That's why we're inviting you to join pro-lifers across the country TODAY in the "VOID THE ABORTION MANDATE" virtual rally and grassroots campaign. President Obama and your representatives in Congressneed to hear from you TODAY. Here's what to do right now:

* CONTACT YOUR SENATORS AND CONGRESSMAN:

Pro Life activist

As a stay at home mom I often wonder how I can be an active member of the Right to Life movement. I know I am called to be a voice for the voice-less but I amidst diapers and applesauce my time is limited. I have had the opportunity to be an active member of the movement from age 13 on. I attended the Washington D.C. March for Life for many years, was the president of my high school Pro-life group and became a side-walk counselor in college. The opportunities presented themselves and I wanted nothing more than to be active.

Now that I am a blessed parent I find that I don’t have the same time I did before. I can hardly get laundry, cleaning or cooking into my day. But truthfully my heart desires more. In our turbulent society, amidst the culture of death, I cannot count on ‘someone’ else volunteering. But I can pray that God will reveal my time and talents so that I may use them in a way that glorifies Him and helps put an end to abortion. I know that I am a wife first, a mother second and an activist third. And my activist heart desires to volunteer some of my time for those who are not able to fight for themselves. Here are a few suggestions to help you get started:

1. Join your parish Right to Life movement. Don’t have one? Start one!
2. Join other moms for a rosary and pray for the end to abortion.
3. Volunteer a few times a month at your local pregnancy center.
4. Donate old maternity clothes and baby items to pregnancy centers.
5. Keep updated on the political aspect of abortion. By keeping educated you can be a better defender of the faith.
6. Study and memorize what the Catholic Church says about why abortion is wrong. If you know your facts you will have a better chance of helping to educate someone who is pro-abortion.
7. Refuse to say ‘Pro-choice’. Instead say ‘Pro-abortion’. There is no ‘choice’ for the baby.
8. Educate yourself about all aspects of the Pro-life movement- stem cell research, In vitro fertilization, etc.
9. Join 40 days for Life. Check out www.40daysforlife.com
10. PRAY AND FAST. AND THEN PRAY AND FAST SOME MORE!

More Pro-life help needed

Here is another great way for stay at home moms and all others who have a busy schedule to help support the Pro Life movement. It only took a few minutes to do!

Prolife Warriors,

On March 6, President Obama's administration moved to completely rescind a rule that was designed at the end of the Bush administration to protect the consciences of physicians and health care workers. The ethics committee of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists had issued a paper in which they called on doctors who are opposed to abortion to refer women to abortion providers, claiming that conscience protections shouldn't prevent prolife physicians from referring women to abortion providers.

Federal law has prevented discrimination against health care personnel who refuse to perform or assist in abortions but the Bush administration policy required institutions which receive federal money to certify their compliance with the laws protecting the conscience rights of health care personnel and was intended to prevent federal funds from going to hospitals and other institutions who ignore those rights.

PROLIFE ACTION NEEDED NOW:

The Federal Register will allow 30 days for citizens to comment on the proposal before making a formal decision.

The deadline for comments is April 9.

You may submit electronic comments via email to proposedrescission@hhs.gov or by visiting www.Regulations.gov and typing "rescission proposal" in the center "search
documents" box
.

You have to check the box titled "Select to find documents accepting comments or submissions." This search should have 5 results, the first or second one being the proposed rule change. It is titled:

"Rescission of the Regulation entitled "Ensuring That Department of Health and HumanServices Funds Do Not Support Coercive or Discriminatory Policies orPractices in Violation of Federal Law"

Click on "send a comment of submission". You may type in :

"I oppose the decision to rescind the conscience protections forhealthcare workers."
At the bottom of the page, click "next step", then submit your comment. Submit.

Please take a few minutes to express your support for conscience protection
for doctors and nurses who oppose abortion.

Columbus cuts Respect Life Department

Here it is... Here is that chance to get active from our homes.

I know your first thought: This is terrible!
And then: I should write a letter!
And then: But I just don't have the time...
And then: Someone else will do it....

But will they? We are the pro-life movement. We are the ones who will make a difference. Please read the following letter and lets help end abortion through our grass root efforts!

********************************************************************************

Dear All Prolife Friends,

The Diocese of Columbus announced yesterday they are cutting out the Respect Life Department at the end of 2009 because of a $20,000 deficit. There is only one person running this department as is. After this department is axed there will only be three other remaining staff members slated (not Respect Life staff) to take over some of the duties of the Respect Life Director. However, the remaining staff are not very supportive of some Respect Life issues, mainly abortion.

First we need to pray and fast this decision will be reversed by the end of the year.

Also, we must write the Bishop, the Chancellor, all people in authority in our Diocese, and tell them we feel this is a very bad decision. The Catholic Church has always stood against the world for speaking out against the evils of abortion, euthanasia, fetal stem cell research, cloning, gene manipulation, invitro-fertilization, contraception, FOCA, etc. Most of the time our Church is the only voice that defends and encourages respect for life from conception until natural death. How is our Diocese going to continue this work without a Respect Life Department? How can we stay silent and stand back and do nothing about this poor misguided decision as we live in this present political climate, when human life in all its stages is threatened like never before?

We all have an obligation to do as much as we can to defend life! None of us has any excuse to sit back and say oh well, that's too bad, etc. This is a time when we need to live our faith. We need to take action and speak out against this decision.

We are living through a time when keeping and supporting a Respect Life Department should be a priority for our Diocese, not something that can be cut out of the budget! Our Church needs to be strong and stand tall during this age. We need leaders that will have the courage to be good shepherds. Our shepherds must be willing to teach, guide, and form us. Without a Respect Life Department how will our Diocese do this?

To begin, we would suggest we write letters to the following people:

Bishop Frederick F. Campbell Vicar General: Monsignor Stephan Moloney Chancellor: Fr. Shawn Corcoran Vice Chancellor: Deacon Thomas M. Berg, Jr.

Chancery Address: 198 East Broad Street
Columbus, OH 43215614-224-2251

Chancery Office Email: chomailbox@colsdioc .org

We should send our letters e-mail and also via U.S. mail. We need to tell everyone you know to pray, fast, and at the very least, write letters and send emails to these people. Please, tell everyone you know and beg them to take action!

Render Unto Caesar

I am currently in the middle of the book Render Unto Caesar by Bishop Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M., Cap. and while I promise a full review when I am done this book has really caused me to re-evaluate the way I live my life as a catholic. Allow me to share with you what I read today: "If we look for opportunities to share our faith with others, God always provides them. This is why self-describing Catholics who live so anonymously that no one knows about their faith, Catholics who fail to prove by their actions what they claim to believe with their tongue, aren't really living as "Catholic"at all. It's also why asking Catholics to keep their faith out of public affairs amounts to telling them to be barren; to behave as if they were neutered. Nothing could be more alien to the meaning of baptism. The Christian idea of witness ...isn't limited to a bloody death in the arena for the faith. All Christians have the command to be a martyr in the public arena-to live a life of conscious witness wherever God places them, no matter how insignificant it seems and whether or not they ever see results."

As I read that passage I was struck, am I truly living as a Catholic or am I more like the anonymous who hides my faith away. I like to think that I am truly living out my vocation as a Catholic but now I wonder would a person know I was Catholic or even Christian after spending a day with me? I hope so, I like to think my faith pervades all that I do, but I know this was not always so. When I was younger I kept my faith to myself when I was among dissenting crowds and what a disservice I did to myself, the faith and those people. By baptism I am called to be a martyr no matter how small my sacrifice.

This passage has inspired me to become more aware of my faith and how I show it to the world, am I a good witness? I sure hope so but I must sadly admit it was a big step for me to put a pro-life sticker on my car. This whole passage has made me ponder my role in the pro-life movement am I a strong and clear voice of the truth? Am I doing all I can? As we draw nearer to the beginning of the 40 Days for Life campaign I plan on doing some real quality time in front of the Eucharist evaluating my role in the pro-life movement no matter how small I am, living it to the fullest as a martyr for my faith.

President Obama and abortion policy changes

It is with a heavy heart that I read CNN.com and observe that only a few days into office, President Obama is ready to make some changes to the current abortion policies. And it's not good.

The article found here http://news.aol.com/article/officials-obama-to-reverse-abortion/316108?cid=12.

"President Barack Obama plans to sign an executive order ending the ban on federal funds for international groups that perform abortions or provide information on the option".

Basically he is allowing tax payer money to be given to international groups that perform and provide information on abortions. (Since the order was created it has been reinstated or banned depending on the political party). Apparently Former Pres. Clinton had ended the ban and one of the first things Pres. Bush did was make sure the ban was back in place. *Way to go Former-president Bush!

SO BASICALLY IT WILL TAKE OUR TAX MONEY AND SEND IT OVERSEES TO FINANCIALLY SUPPORT ACTUAL ABORTIONS, THE EDUCTION OF ABORTIONS, AND PROMOTION OF ABORTIONS AS A VIABLE CHOICE.

"In a move related to the lifting of the abortion rule, Obama also is expected to restore funding to the U.N. Population Fund (UNFPA), probably in the next budget. Both he and Clinton had pledged to reverse a Bush administration determination that assistance to the organization violated U.S. law.".

This is nuts. Basically Obama provides financial assistance to UNFPA. UNFPA supports the Chinese family planning policy. You know, the one where women are forced to have abortions if they have more than one child in the home and there is forced sterilization. And if they do have the second child they can be fined up to $25,000.

"President Obama not long ago told the American people that he would support policies to reduce abortions, but today he is effectively guaranteeing more abortions by funding groups that promote abortion as a method of population control," said Douglas Johnson, legislative director of the National Right to Life Committee.

I guess we all knew it was coming... but I wanted to ignore the scary possibilities and hope for the best. At this point all the worst situations possible are beginning to come to the surface. This is a full blown war on the sanctity of life. So now we pray....and pray...

What now?

Well it's official Barack Obama is now our president and while this scares me to death I feel we must find a way as Christians to see the good. Mind you I am not saying support his stance on abortion or any other of his heinous ideas but I do feel there are a few bright-ish things we can focus on.

First I am proud of our country for electing a man of mixed race. We have come very far as a nation and should be very proud of ourselves for that.

Second I think it is wonderful that people are being so passionate about politics and the future of our country. I only wish they were educating themselves on the facts and being passionate about the real issues and not the smoke screen Obama has fed them.

Unfortunately that is all I have on positive notes, but we must not lose hope and we must keep praying for a conversion of heart. Think how powerful it would be if this man who so many are blindly following would become pro-life. Who knows with God all things are possible.
