Holy Sex

That's right Holy Sex, no this will not be an awkward post that is the title of a book I am currently reading, the full title is Holy Sex: A Catholic Guide to Toe-Curling, Mind-blowing, Infallible loving by Gregory K. Popcak ( yes the same guy who wrote Parenting with Grace). I am not going to actually review this book because A. I haven't even come close to finishing it and B. I think it is better you just read it yourself. But as I have read the first section it occurred to me that this is a book people need to know about. This book is all about understanding the church's true teaching on the beauty of marital intimacy. It displaces and explains the misconceptions that have sprouted up in our world. It not only clarifies but it urges you to take your love to a whole new level, to reach the point of holy and infallible lovemaking where you and your spouse help each other to glimpse the Eden our fallen ancestors lost for us.

While I am very well catechised in the Church's teaching on the beauty of human sexuality, I found that I even held some misconceptions. So I urge you to pick up this book as a gift for your self and your spouse. Challenge yourself to become an infallible lover one who's love and passion will grow with age and not fade. One who's love will be nurturing and life giving. In essence a love that will blow you away.

World Marriage Day

This Sunday February 8 is World Marriage Day as dedicated by the Catholic Church. Until I became married myself I was unaware World Marriage Day even existed. I truly appreciate that it falls the Sunday before Valentine's Day because my husband and I now have another excuse to celebrate the gift that is our marriage. Valentine's Day gets so over commercialized that we have chosen not to celebrate it in a big way but instead we celebrate our marriage and the fruit that it has blessed us with.

If you have not done so in the past this year I challenge you to celebrate World Marriage Day and join millions of other Catholics in celebrating the Sacrament that is Catholic marriage. I am not saying don't celebrate Valentine's Day but which is more important? We think World Marriage Day and try to show our kids that by enjoying a saints holiday but CELEBRATING our vocation as married Catholics.

Fasting for your marriage

As catholics we tend to fast for all kinds of important issues or occasions. Recently a friend told me that her husband fasts for their marriage every week and I was speechless at the generous and loving gift her husband is giving her. So it got me thinking if we fast for everything else why not fast for our marriages, the foundation of our family life. In pre-marriage counseling my pastor told us the one thing we MUST do everyday is pray aloud together. Here is my question for you what do you do to strengthen your marriage? Do you pray together, do you fast, or maybe you have another beautiful tradition you can share. In a world where marriage is constantly attacked it never hurts to add a little more spiritual support to your marriage.
